MEET THE TEAM
Dr. McCartney is board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine. He graduated magna cum laude in biology from Aquinas College and received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. McCartney served his internship and residency in internal medicine with the Brown University medical program at Roger Williams General Hospital & Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. McCartney actively serves as principal investigator in many clinical trials and has performed over 450 trials involving diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention.

Personal Interests: I enjoy traveling with my daughter, spending time with my two new adopted puppies and golfing.
26 YEARS W/NMA
Dr. Thomas joined Newburyport Medical Associates in 2009 and is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine. He received his medical degree from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Thomas completed his residency in Reading, Pennsylvania at the Reading Hospital & Medical Center. He specializes in family and community medicine.

Personal Interests: I enjoy watching and cheering on our home team, the Boston Red Sox.
8 YEARS W/NMA
Jane joined our medical practice in 2003 as a Certified Physician Assistant. Jane earned her Physician Assistant Bachelor’s degree from Hahnemann University. She was also a clinical instructor for Duquesne University’s Physician Assistant program. Jane comes to Newburyport Medical Associates with extensive experience including emergency medicine, routine gynecological care and health maintenance.

Personal Interests: I enjoy spending time on my farm with my horses, donkeys, chickens, bee hives and my new Australian Shepard, Trixie.
14 YEARS W/NMA
Kristin joined our medical practice in 2007 as a Certified Physician Assistant. Kristin earned her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences followed by a Master’s degree as a Physician Assistant from Springfield College. She completed her clinical rotations in Western Massachusetts and Hartford Connecticut. In addition to seeing patients for sick visits, health maintenance, and routine gynecological exams, she also counsels our patients on cholesterol management.

Personal Interests: I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two young girls and enjoy Zumba, running and hiking.
10 YEARS W/NMA
Susan started her career as a Medical Assistant at Newburyport Medical Associates in 1981. She took over as billing manager for the practice in 1986. In 1994, she became the NMA office manager where she continues to oversee the overall business operations of the practice.
Personal Interests: During my time away from the office, I enjoy tending to my extensive vegetable garden and traveling with my husband in our RV during the winter and spending time at our camp in Maine during the summer.
